“Give with a Cheerful Heart”
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, NKJV

"But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows [a]bountifully will also reap [b]bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of [c]necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."

Devotion:
In this Scripture, Paul wanted the Corinthians to give generously toward a fund-raising project to help needy Christians. He reminds believers that the more you give, the more you will receive. This principle is not only referring to financial giving, but it can also refer to the time we as believers share to listen and share wisdom with others, volunteer in community events, sit with the elderly, and other generous acts.  

Paul used the example of sowing and reaping to teach this important spiritual principle. If we invest our lives, resources, and gifts into God's Kingdom, we will see the fruit of our obedience to God. The Scripture also says we are not to give grudgingly or of necessity - our giving should never be motivated by guilt, social pressure, or the desire to impress others. It should come from our hearts. When we think about how great God has been to us, generosity should come naturally.

Also, God loves a cheerful giver. A cheerful giver is someone who will trust God as their provider and joyfully give because they know that everything they have been given comes from Him. When we surrender our resources to the Lord, we are saying that our confidence is not in earthly possessions but in Him and Him alone.

Let’s examine our own hearts today, and ask this question - Am I giving cheerfully, with gratitude, and by faith? Whether you are sowing your finances, your time, your talents, or your service, do it willingly from your heart.  And when you give, give believing that you are bringing glory to God, the great rewarder.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your many blessings. Help me to give willingly, to serve faithfully, and to trust You completely as my Provider. May my life reflect Your love and generosity, bringing glory to Your name and blessings to those Your Holy Spirit directs me to. In Jesus' name, Amen.
