“A Heart of Purity”
Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:22

“Flee also youthful lusts; but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

Devotion:
Paul’s words to Timothy are simple, but they carry a powerful spiritual strategy: don’t just run from something — run toward something. God never tells us to flee without giving us a destination. He knows that victory doesn’t come from avoidance alone; it comes from pursuit.

“Flee youthful lusts” means more than escaping temptation. It means refusing to entertain anything that pulls your heart away from God — old habits, old desires, old patterns, old distractions. Some things you don’t negotiate with. You don’t reason with them. You don’t linger around them. You run.

But Paul doesn’t stop there. He says, “Follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace.” In other words, fill the space you emptied. Replace what you left behind. Chase what builds you, strengthens you, and shapes you into Christ’s image. Righteousness steadies you. Faith lifts you. Love softens you. Peace anchors you.

And then Paul adds something beautiful: “with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” You’re not meant to pursue God alone. Surround yourself with people who are running in the same direction — people who stir your faith, protect your purity, and encourage your walk with Christ. The right community helps you flee faster and follow better.

Today, ask the Lord to show you what you need to flee and what you need to follow. Let Him redirect your steps, reorder your desires, and renew your heart.

Prayer:
Lord, help me flee anything that pulls me away from You. Give me strength to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Surround me with people who call on You sincerely and make my heart pure as I follow You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
