Author: Evangelist Crystal Poston

“Trusting in God’s Promise”
Scripture: Deuteronomy 34:1-4

“And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan, And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,  And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.  And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.”

Devotion:
We are reminded of God's faithfulness, sovereignty, and the fulfillment of His promises in this Scripture. After forty years of leading the children of Israel through the wilderness, Moses had faithfully served the Lord through many challenges, including the rebellion, complaints, and disobedience of the Israelites. Moses stood on Mount Nebo, where God allowed him to see the Promised Land. Although Moses could see the land, he would not be permitted to enter it because of his disobedience. Yet God's promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did not change.

A takeaway from this passage is that obedience to God's Word matters. Even those whom God calls to lead His people are held accountable for their actions. Moses' experience reminds us that our service to God does not exempt us from the consequences of disobedience. Therefore, we must remain humble, obedient, and faithful to God's instructions, recognizing that He expects us to honor Him in both our words and our actions.

We must understand that God's purpose is greater than our personal desires, plans, and expectations. Sometimes we may labor, pray, sacrifice, and plant seeds of faith without witnessing the full results of our efforts. Just as Moses was not permitted to enter the Promised Land, it did not mean that God's plan had failed. The Lord chose Joshua to continue leading His people into the land He had promised them. 1 Corinthians 3:6 says, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” Our responsibility is to remain faithful and obedient to the assignment God has placed in our hands, trusting Him with the outcome.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness and the assurance that Your promises never fail. Help me to trust Your divine plan even when I do not understand it. Let me remain faithful to the assignment You have placed upon my life. And teach me to serve You with unwavering trust so I can be an example, encouraging future generations to follow You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
