“Trusting Beyond What We Can See”
Scripture: Hebrews 11:1

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Devotion:
Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. It allows us to trust in His promises, even when we cannot see how or when they will come to pass. This Scripture reminds us that true faith is not based on what our natural eyes can see, but on our confidence in the power, faithfulness, and sovereignty of our Lord and Savior.

As believers, we are called to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). However, life's burdens, disappointments, and the lack of assurance can sometimes cause our faith to waver. But this is when we must remember that our faith is not dependent on our personal circumstances, it is having that assurance that our God will come through for us. It is trusting Him based on what we have seen or heard of His mighty works in the past, and having that blessed assurance that the same God who moved before by healing our bodies, made a way for our loved ones or showed up in our time of trouble is able to move again. His faithfulness never changes!

In this 11th chapter of Hebrews we can read about the extraordinary faith that Abraham demonstrated by obeying God's call without even knowing where he was going. Even Noah prepared an ark before the flood came, and Sarah trusted God's promise despite her age. Their faith was not simply something they professed with their lips; it was demonstrated through their obedience, patience, actions, and unwavering trust in God.

We must believe and trust in God enough to obey His Word and surrender all to Him.  “Now faith is…” is telling us it is not tomorrow, not next year, but we must act Today! Faith without works is dead!

Remember, our faith is not in what we can see, but in the One who sees and knows all things. So don’t allow the circumstances of this world to weaken your faith!

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being a faithful and trustworthy God. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, doubt, and uncertainty to cause me to waver. It is my desire to trust You even when I cannot see what lies ahead.  Help me walk by faith and not by sight, and remain obedient to Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
