“Visions and Dreams”
Scripture: Acts 2:17

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”

Devotion:
When Peter stood before the crowd on the day of Pentecost, he quoted the prophet Joel to explain the miraculous outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God promised something revolutionary: an abundance of His Holy Spirit that enables ordinary people to see beyond what is. Visions and dreams in Scripture are not mere wishful thinking or imagination; they are divinely granted appearances and divinely instructed direction. They allow believers to look past the visible constraints of their present reality and catch a glimpse of God's heart, His redemption, and His future work.

Left to our natural sight, we see only current obstacles, cultural decay, personal limitations, or age-related fatigue. By the Holy Spirit, young men are given heavenly vision for what God can do, and old men are given fresh spiritual dreams to keep their hope vibrant. Seeing beyond what is requires us to step out of the natural realm and align our hearts with the Holy Spirit. When our perception is shifted, we view others through the lens of God and begin to see through the lens of His sovereign power—empowered to dream, pray, and walk boldly into the God-given future He has prepared.

Prayer:
Lord, fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit today. Open my spiritual eyes to see visions and dream dreams that originate in Your heart. Grant me the courage to hold fast to Your promises and to live as an instrument of Your grace, truth, and power in these days. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
