Daily Devotional - Seeing Beyond What Is: The Vision - Week 42 - Day 290 - 10/17/26 - "The Harvest is Ready"

Author: Evangelist Lisa Dalton

“The Harvest Is Ready”
Scripture: John 4:35

"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."

Devotion:
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples after His conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. While the disciples were focused on physical needs and daily concerns, Jesus wanted them to see a greater opportunity. People all around them were ready to hear the good news of God's kingdom.

The command Jesus gave is still relevant today: "Lift up your eyes." Too often, we become focused on our routines, responsibilities, and personal challenges. As a result, we can overlook the people around us who are searching for hope, truth, and salvation.

Jesus declared that the fields were already white for harvest. The opportunity was not somewhere in the distant future. It was present at that very moment. Likewise, God places people in our path every day who need encouragement, compassion, prayer, and the message of Christ.

The harvest begins when we see people the way Jesus sees them. Instead of viewing others as strangers, interruptions, or obstacles, we begin to recognize them as souls loved by God. A kind word, an invitation to church, a testimony, or a simple act of kindness can become a seed that God uses for His glory.

Today, ask God to open your eyes to the opportunities He has already placed before you. The harvest may be closer than you think.

Reflection Questions:

1. Who has God placed in your life that may be ready to hear about Christ?
2. What distractions keep you from noticing opportunities to minister to others?
3. How can you intentionally share God's love with someone today?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me lift my eyes and see the people around me through Your perspective. Forgive me for becoming distracted by temporary concerns and missing opportunities to serve others. Open my heart to those who need hope and give me courage to share Your love. Use my life to point others to Jesus and help me be faithful in Your harvest field. In Jesus' name, Amen.
