Author: Evangelist Lisa Dalton

“From Darkness to Light”
Scripture: Acts 26:18

"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me."

Devotion:
As Paul stood before King Agrippa, he recounted the mission Jesus had given him. It was a mission of transformation: opening blind eyes, bringing people out of darkness, and leading them into the light of God's truth.

This verse beautifully describes what happens when a person encounters Jesus. Before Christ, we may see physically, but we are spiritually blind to God's truth. We can become trapped in habits, fears, and ways of thinking that keep us from experiencing the life God intends for us. But when Jesus opens our eyes, everything changes.

The light of Christ reveals God's love, exposes sin, and shows us the path to salvation. Through faith in Him, we receive forgiveness and become heirs of God's promises. We are no longer prisoners of darkness but children of light.

Even as believers, there are times when we need God to open our eyes anew. We need Him to reveal areas where we have grown complacent, fearful, or distracted. His light continues to guide us, correct us, and draw us closer to Him.

Today, thank God for bringing you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Then ask Him to use your life to help others discover the same hope and freedom found in Jesus Christ.

Reflection Questions:

1. How has Jesus opened your eyes to His truth and grace?
2. Are there areas of your life where you need God's light to bring clarity and direction?
3. Who in your life needs to hear the message of forgiveness and hope found in Christ?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for opening my eyes to Your truth and bringing me from darkness into light. Thank You for the forgiveness of sins and the inheritance You have given through faith in Jesus Christ. Help me walk each day in Your light and reflect Your love to others. Use me to share the hope of the gospel with those who have not yet come to know You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
