“Lending to the Lord”
Scripture: Proverbs 19:17, NKJV

"He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, And He will pay back what he has given."

Devotion:
Proverbs 19:17 reminds us that God notices every time we show an act of mercy to those in need. When we show kindness and help others who are struggling, God considers it as though we are lending to Him. The Lord owes us nothing, however, He promises to reward those who mirror His compassionate heart.

Throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry He ministered to the hungry, healed the sick, welcomed the outcast, and showed compassion to those whom society overlooked. As His followers, we are called to do the same. We can give our time, encouragement, prayers, and help to those who are hurting, and remember it does not always mean we have to give financial blessings. I know sometimes we are hesitant because we don’t want to encourage what may be irresponsible behavior by the recipient, but we must place our trust in God who is in control of every situation.
 
Remember His Word says, “He will pay back what he has given.” God's promise that He will pay back reminds us that our reward is in His hands. We should never give to gain praise from people or to manipulate God's blessings. We should give because we love God and desire to reflect His character. In return, He faithfully blesses those who honor Him through acts of mercy, healing, open doors, and whatever else you may need.

As we generously share what the Lord has provided us with, we become living testimonies of His love, witnessing to others of His saving grace.
 
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy and compassion toward us. Fill us the more with Your precious Holy Spirit and give us a heart that is sensitive to the needs of others . Let our lives reflect the kindness of Jesus so that those around us may experience Your love and be drawn closer to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
