“A Day on The Farm”
Scripture: Luke 8:5, NKJV

“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.”
 
Devotion:
Jesus begins the Parable of the Sower with something simple: a farmer walking into the field with a seed in his hand. Nothing dramatic. Nothing complicated. Just a sower doing what sowers do — scattering seed with expectation. And in that quiet picture, Jesus reveals something powerful about God’s heart toward us.

God is the Sower. His Word is the seed. And every day, He is sowing into the soil of our lives.

He doesn’t wait until our hearts are perfect. He doesn’t sow only where the ground looks promising. He doesn’t avoid the messy places, the hard places, or the rocky places.

He sows everywhere — because He sees what we cannot see. He sees potential where we see problems. He sees fruit where we see failure. He sees harvest where we see hardness.

Luke 8:5 reminds us that God is always speaking, always planting, always working. The question is not whether God is sowing — the question is whether we are receiving. Today, pause and ask: What seed is God trying to plant in me right now? What truth is He scattering into my heart? What area of my life needs to become good soil again?

The Sower is faithful. The seed is powerful. And the harvest is certain — when the heart is open.

Prayer:
Lord, make my heart good soil today. Remove the distractions, soften the hard places, and let Your Word take root in me. I receive what You are sowing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
