“Seek Godly Wisdom”
Scripture: James 3:17

"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy."

Devotion:
We live in a world filled with conflicting opinions and selfish ambition, but God calls us to seek a different kind of wisdom, the wisdom that comes from above. Heavenly wisdom is not measured by our own intelligence, education, or worldly success. It is evident through a life that reflects Christ.

In verse 17, James described God's wisdom as pure. It is morally clean and free from selfish motives. It is peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, and full of mercy and good fruits. It is also without partiality and without hypocrisy. As believers in Christ, we should always examine whether our decisions, attitudes, conversations, and actions reflect this heavenly wisdom. Are we responding with grace or reacting in anger? Are we seeking to be peaceful or creating conflict? When we yield to the Holy Spirit, He enables us to live in a way that reflects God's wisdom instead of the world's. We won’t have that “everyone for themselves mentality,” but we will be willing to lend a hand where needed. Even if it is a sacrifice or for a stranger or someone who has done us wrong in the past.
 
True wisdom is shown as we reverence God with our hearts, our words, and our actions, allowing our lives to draw others to Him.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom that comes from above. Fill my heart with purity, peace, gentleness, mercy, and good fruit. Help me to seek Your guidance before making decisions and to respond to others with the love and grace You have shown me. Help me not to be prideful, selfish, or hypocritical, but to walk in humility and obedience. Let the life that I live reflect Your heavenly wisdom and bring honor and glory to Your holy name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
