Paul uses the imagery of farming to help us understand a spiritual truth: seed is given not to be stored away, but to be sown. Bread meets today’s need, but seed prepares for tomorrow’s harvest.

God provides what we need right now, and He also provides what we need to invest in His purposes. When we give—whether it’s time, resources, kindness, or faith—we are not losing; we are sowing. And God is faithful not only to replace what we give, but to increase it in ways that produce lasting spiritual fruit.

The “harvest” God enlarges is not just material—it is a harvest of righteousness. He is more concerned with shaping our character, deepening our faith, and extending His love through us than He is with increasing our possessions.

Heart Check:

Do I trust God with what I’ve been given, or do I hold onto it tightly?

Am I more focused on my supply or on God as my source?

How is God inviting me to sow generously today?

Application:
Today, take a moment to recognize what God has already placed in your hands. Ask Him how you can use it for His glory. When you give with faith and obedience, trust that God will supply what you need and grow something far greater than you can see.

Prayer:
Lord, You are my provider and my source. Thank You for supplying both my daily needs and the seed You’ve placed in my life. Help me to give generously and trust You fully. Use what I offer to produce a harvest of righteousness that brings honor to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”

Devotion:
After the resurrection, Jesus meets Peter where failure once spoke the loudest. Three times Peter had denied knowing Jesus. Now, three times Jesus asks a restoring question: “Do you love Me?” Not “Why did you fail?” or “Are you sorry?”—but a question aimed at the heart.

Jesus’ focus reveals something powerful: love is the foundation of calling. Each confession of love is followed by a commission—“Feed My lambs… Take care of My sheep.” Grace does not end with forgiveness; it restores responsibility and renews purpose.

Jesus shows us that our past does not disqualify us when our hearts return to Him. He transforms failure into testimony and shame into service.

Heart Check:

Am I letting past mistakes define my future?

Where is Jesus inviting me to respond in love today?

How is my love for Christ shown through care for others?

Application:
Today, hear Jesus asking you personally, “Do you love Me?”
Answer honestly—and then live it out. Love for Jesus is not proven only by words but by faithful care, service, and obedience in everyday moments. Let grace move you forward, not hold you back.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for meeting me with grace instead of condemnation. Restore what failure has shaken and renew my sense of purpose. Help me love You deeply and show that love through how I serve others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.”

Devotion:
Thomas often gets labeled as “the doubter,” yet his struggle is deeply human. He wasn’t rejecting Jesus—he was wrestling with disappointment, grief, and unanswered questions. Thomas wanted proof because belief felt risky again after the trauma of the cross.

What’s remarkable is how Jesus responds. He does not shame Thomas, rebuke him harshly, or dismiss his doubts. Instead, Jesus meets Thomas exactly where he is. He invites Thomas to examine the wounds—the very scars that prove love, sacrifice, and victory.

Jesus’ words, “Stop doubting and believe,” are not a condemnation; they are an invitation. Faith does not mean the absence of questions—it means bringing those questions to Jesus and trusting Him with them.

Heart Check:

Where am I struggling to believe right now?

Have I been keeping my doubts from Jesus instead of bringing them to Him?

Do I believe Jesus is patient enough to meet me where I am?

Application:
Today, don’t hide your doubts or fears. Bring them honestly to Jesus. Just as He did with Thomas, Jesus will meet you with grace, compassion, and truth. Faith grows not by pretending everything is fine, but by trusting Jesus in the middle of uncertainty.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being patient with my doubts and gentle with my fears. Help me bring every question to You instead of pulling away. Strengthen my faith, and remind me that You are always willing to meet me where I am. Help me move from doubt to trust, one step at a time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

He referred to “fallow ground,” an agricultural term describing land left uncultivated, as a metaphor for parts of their lives and ours that have grown hard, neglected, or unresponsive to God. This verse speaks to the condition of our hearts.

In our lives we face times of disappointment, distractions, sin, or simply busyness that can cause our hearts to grow dull. We may find ourselves still doing our usual spiritual tasks, but deep down inside we sense that something is “off,” something has become hardened. It is at these times that God may come to us in a still small voice, as He did with Elijah in the wilderness, encouraging us to soften our hearts before Him. The verse says, “for it is time to seek the Lord,” which encourages us not to wait until later, but to seek God Now! The longer we take to repent and seek the Lord for forgiveness, the more comfortable we may dwell in that state.

In seeking Him, we must pray, study His Word, and turn away from harmful, sinful practices. If we desire to experience God’s promised compassion and loving-kindness, we must choose to live in obedience and in His will.

Cast your cares upon Him, He is able to heal and restore your relationship with Him.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, search our hearts and show us anything that has caused us to become hardened or distant from You. Help us to break up the fallow ground in our lives and return to You. Thank You for Your promise of mercy when we seek You. We ask that You make our hearts soft, responsive, and fully devoted to You so that we can produce good fruit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It helps us to develop a closer relationship with Him. And when we take that rest, especially when life feels demanding, we declare that God is in control. We act on faith, trusting that God will provide what we cannot.

Resting the way God commands is not being lazy; it is being obedient! Jesus even went to quiet places to avoid the crowds, not because He was lazy, but because He was aligned with the Father. Rest kept Him grounded, focused, and obedient.

Let’s be reminded today to rest, knowing that God will provide, God will sustain, and God will finish what He started.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for caring about every part of my life, even when I need to rest. You know when I have reached my limit, and You lovingly call me to rest and trust You. Forgive me for the times when I’ve relied on my own strength and got burnt out because I did not pause. Help me to see rest as an act of faith, not weakness, and to have confidence, knowing that You are working on my behalf. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

While they enjoyed the blessings of rain and harvest, they failed to fear the Lord or acknowledge Him as the Giver of it all!

Rain and harvest represent provision, timing, and faithfulness. God was reminding them, and us today that He is the One who gives us everlasting life. Every season, every provision, and every answered need comes from Him.

It’s easy for us to take for granted that God is going to bless us, and overlook His daily grace that we do not even deserve. Sometimes we see His provision as routine rather than divine and become complacent. But Jeremiah 5:24 lets us know that we have to reverence the Father and give Him glory and honor, because just as Superintendent Samu-el reminded us during our Sunday morning service, “the same God that sends the “winter” has already scheduled the “rain.”

So even when life feels uncertain, know that God’s timing remains perfect. We must trust Him, honor Him, and remain thankful in every season, trusting His timing whether we are waiting for “rain” or rejoicing in “harvest.”

Prayer:
Father God, we thank You for being our provider and sustainer. You are faithful in every season, and we acknowledge that all we have comes from You. Forgive us for the times we have taken Your blessings for granted or failed to recognize Your many blessings in our lives. Help us to trust Your timing, whether we are in a season of waiting or harvest. Fill our hearts with thankfulness and our lives with trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Devotion:
Jesus teaches us in this Scripture that when we give, whether it’s love, kindness, forgiveness, time, or resources, it doesn’t end there. He causes it to return, not just equally, but abundantly.

This passage not only refers to material giving, but it also speaks about how we treat others. When we extend grace to others, we often receive grace in return. When we sow encouragement, we reap encouragement. And the same way that we judge others, is the way we will be judged.

Sometimes we may hesitate to give because we fear that we will go without. But in those times, we must remember that God will multiply what we release in faith. Jesus lets us know that we can trust that God will provide.

When we give with a generous heart, it reflects the heart of our Lord and Savior. And when we live that way, we set ourselves up to receive His overflowing blessings, not just in what we have, but in who we become. I love the way the Word says in Proverbs 11:25, “the liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me more than I deserve. Give me a generous heart so that I will give willingly, joyfully, and not out of obligation or fear. Remind me that You are my source, and I can trust You to provide. As I give, let it be a blessing to others and bring glory and honor to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding…. - Philippians 4:7 - God’s peace!

Well, I can only imagine how the disciples felt after Jesus’ crucifixion when they were together behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders and uncertain about their future. Then, in the middle of their fear, Jesus appears and stands with them. He brought peace right into the place where fear had tried to take over. He spoke the words, “Peace be unto you.”

See, even when fear tries to take over, we see in this Scripture, Jesus’ presence will bring a peace that no substances or circumstances can give. Jesus came through that “locked door.” Nothing could keep Him out. When we allow Jesus to step into our situations in life, everything changes. He will meet us right where we are, behind those closed doors of worry and doubt.

The next time you are facing fear or uncertainty, don’t hide behind closed doors, boldly call on Jesus, because He stands near and will speak the power of peace over your life.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for seeing my every worry and hidden fears. I ask that You speak Your peace over me even today. Help me to remember that You are in control, and that I can trust You even when I don’t have the answers. Let Your presence fill me with Your perfect peace. In Your name, Amen.

And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.”

Devotion:
In these verses, Luke tells us about two of Jesus’ followers, one of them being Cleopas and the other not named. After Jesus was crucified, they left Jerusalem and walked toward Emmaus, feeling discouraged, uncertain, and let down. While they walked and talked trying to understand what had taken place, Jesus began walking with them, and the Word says in Luke 24:16 NLT, “But God kept them from recognizing him.”

This story shows us that, no matter how uncertain we feel or how much grief we bear, or even when questions go unanswered, we are never alone. Like those followers of Jesus, we may be so focused on our own pain or disappointments that we fail to see that Jesus is right beside us. He is with us in moments of despair, doubt, and even during times when we just don’t understand what is going on! But just as Jesus walked beside them and listened to them talk on their journey of uncertainty, He shows us that same patience. He walks with us through confusion until we eventually begin to understand.

When life doesn’t make sense, and God feels distant, this Scripture can encourage us to trust that Jesus is nearer than we realize. As Rev. James Moore sung in his song, “He was there all the time, He was there all the time, waiting patiently in line, He was there all the time!” We are not always going to experience quick solutions, but what a blessing to experience Jesus’ presence along the way when we least expect Him. We must seek Him for more faith so that we will become aware of His presence as we navigate through this life of uncertainty.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being a God who walks with me, even when I don’t realize it. I ask that You remind me to trust that You are near when I feel confused, discouraged, or alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In ancient Israel, farmers were instructed not to harvest every last portion of their fields. What might seem like “leftover” was intentionally reserved for the poor and the outsider. God built generosity directly into everyday life.

This principle still speaks today. It reminds us that everything we have—our time, resources, abilities—is ultimately from God. And He calls us not to cling tightly, but to live with open hands. When we leave “room” in our lives for others, we reflect His character.

Generosity is not just about giving from abundance; it’s about making space for others even when it costs us something. It’s choosing compassion over convenience and kindness over self-interest. Whether it’s sharing finances, offering encouragement, or extending hospitality, every act of giving becomes a testimony of God’s provision.

God ends the command with a reminder: “I am the Lord your God.” In other words, trust Him. When you give, you are not losing—you are participating in His divine care for others, and He will take care of you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the abundant grace You have shown in my life. Use my life to share Your grace with others. Let my words, actions, and testimony point people toward You. May Your grace continue to spread to many people, and may every life touched by Your love bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The seed is the same, but the soil makes the difference. Good soil represents a life that is open, surrendered, and willing to receive truth. It is not perfect soil —it has simply been prepared.

Sometimes we wonder why we don’t see growth or fruit in certain seasons. This passage gently reminds us that fruitfulness is not about striving harder, but about cultivating our hearts. When we allow God to soften areas hardened by disappointment, remove distractions that choke out His Word, and deepen our trust in Him, we become that “good soil.”

The yield varies—thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold. God does not measure fruit by comparison but by faithfulness. What matters is that growth happens. Even a small harvest is evidence of God’s work in us. Today, consider what kind of soil your heart has been. God is always sowing—through Scripture, through His Spirit, through everyday moments. When we receive His Word with faith and obedience, transformation follows, and our lives begin to bear fruit that blesses others.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for continually sowing Your Word into my life. Help me to be good soil—soft, receptive, and ready to receive all that You have for me. Thank You that You are patient with me and faithful to complete the work You have begun. I choose today to receive Your Word with joy and walk in obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
