Today’s Scripture comes after the Great Flood. After Noah had built an altar and offered sacrifices to God, God let him know that He wouldn't curse the ground or destroy all living creatures again as He did in the flood. He also lets Noah know that the natural seasons of time will not be interrupted again. How amazing is it that even when God’s wrath is rightfully shown, His grace is still sufficient for us? God didn’t have to replenish the earth or save Noah and his family. He definitely didn’t have to make a promise at all.

However, one thing is sure: when God speaks a word, it will come to pass. I don’t know what word God has spoken to you this morning, but I encourage you to hold on to it by faith until it comes to pass. If God said it, He will do just what He said. You see, God’s Word, unlike man’s, has the power to create life from nothing. When God speaks, things have to change. Life has to spring forth, and deliverance must come. God’s Word is literally alive, and we have seen the full manifestation of His Word become life through our Savior.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for every Word You have spoken in my life. I trust that Your Word will come to pass concerning me. I stand on Your Word by faith, and I give Your name the glory, praise, and honor. Amen.

As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb.”
“He asked her, ‘Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?’ Thinking he was the gardener, she said, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.’“

Devotion:
With all that is going on in the world today, I want to ask you a very serious question this morning: Who are you looking for? You see, in today’s Scripture, Mary came looking for Jesus in an empty tomb. When she saw He wasn’t there, she began to cry and get upset. Then, when Jesus approached her, she didn't recognize Him at first because her own emotions and feelings distracted her. She mistook her Savior for a gardener. Jesus came so that we don’t have to search and look for our own answers or worry about what’s going on in this world. He came to set us free from the bondage of sin, and who the Son sets free is free indeed. Jesus’ resurrection restored us back to God, and I’m so glad about it. People spend most of their lives trying to fill a God-sized hole with all kinds of desires and vices, but God sent His son to make us whole so we don’t have to look for anything else.

Take a moment this morning and give God praise! The search is over. Our redeemer lives! Because He lives, we have the victory. God gave us everything we could ever desire and need, wrapped up and tied up in HIs Son Jesus. We must stop looking for life among the dead things of this world and live renewed through our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer:
Thank You God I’m so glad the search is over. Thank You for the gift of new life through Jesus Christ. I am free! I am free! Amen.

He didn’t just sit idly around believing the women of God; he had to go see for himself. Peter ran to the tomb of his Master, and he discovered it was indeed empty. However, he saw the symbolic discarded grave clothes, and so he knew something amazing had taken place. What does the empty grave symbolize for you? The empty grave is a fulfillment of God’s grace and love for us. The empty grave is our new life in Christ. It’s our redemption. Jesus got up so we could overcome the bondage of sin and be redeemed back to God. His death and resurrection are our new lease on life. Jesus did what no one before Him could do: He crucified flesh in the flesh. ‌He got up with ALL power!

I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad that my Savior lives! I’m so glad that He took all my sins, my shortcomings, my faults, and He nailed them to the cross over 2,000 years ago. Then, He turned around and gave me the gift of eternal life through Him. I'm so glad the grave is empty; Jesus's resurrection redeemed me to new life, and because He lives, I can live!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the empty grave that symbolizes my redemption and salvation. Help me continue to lift You up in all that I say and do. Help me to give Your name the glory and honor always. Amen.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.”

Devotion:
Have you ever gotten a phone call and the first thing the person said was, “Don’t be afraid?” That’s usually a sure sign that you are going to be afraid. Anytime a sentence starts with what not to do, it often means something unexpected or unsettling is happening.

In our lesson today, two women arrive at the tomb looking for Jesus. Before they even reach the place where His body had been laid, an angel meets them with the message, “Fear not.” I’m sure they wondered why the angel would say that. But here’s how I want us to look at this moment:

Before the angel gives instructions, before he announces the miracle, he speaks to their fear.
God always deals with our fear before He deals with our future.

The women came trembling, grieving, and confused. Heaven’s first message to them was peace.

God sees the heart that seeks Him.
He recognizes the ones who show up—even in sorrow, even in uncertainty, even when they don’t understand.

The women didn’t come expecting a resurrection.
They came because they loved Him.
And God honored that.

The angel then declares the greatest truth in history:

The tomb is empty.
Death is defeated.
Jesus kept His word— “as He said.”

He invites them to see the empty place where Jesus once lay. Faith is strengthened when we remember what God has already done.

And when we tell of the goodness of Jesus, that same excitement and assurance we feel can influence someone else to grab hold of that same faith. Scripture reminds us that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

The angel tells them to go quickly and tell the disciples that Jesus has risen and is on His way to Galilee. That message was a comfort to the disciples, who were grieving deeply. Jesus always meets us on the other side of pain.

Consider this:

Jesus is already ahead of you.

Ahead of your next step.

Ahead of your next season.

Ahead of every unknown.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the empty tomb and the hope it brings. Calm my fears and strengthen my faith. Help me to seek You with a sincere heart, even when I don’t understand what You’re doing. Give me the courage to carry the message of Your resurrection with joy and boldness. And thank You for going before me into every place You call me to.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We always had one growing up. Whenever one died or ran away, Dad would always get another. But he had his favorite, and that was Rock. Rock was a pit bull—brown with a black and white face. He stayed in the backyard, free to run around and enjoy life. When he wanted attention, he would walk up to the door, peep inside, and bark at us. My dad would go outside and throw the ball with him or take him walking in the park.

As Rock got older, he slowed down, and Dad eventually had to make the difficult decision to put him down. As hard as it was, Dad knew it was necessary. He loved Rock so much that he had a plaque made and placed it in the backyard where Rock’s doghouse had been. Rock’s life was valuable to Dad; therefore, he deserved a proper memorial.

That’s what we saw in today’s lesson. Jesus had just been crucified and hung before the people. His body was beaten beyond recognition and left to be discarded. But Joseph, a rich man from Arimathaea, believed Jesus was worthy of a proper burial. This moment fulfilled the prophecy in Isaiah 53:9, which said the Messiah would be associated with the rich in His burial.

As a member of the Jewish council, Joseph had kept his love for Jesus a secret out of fear of retaliation from the Jewish leaders. But when everyone else had walked away, Joseph stepped forward. He wasn’t one of the twelve, yet he played a crucial role in the final moments of Jesus’ earthly life—making sure He was buried with dignity, honor, and the care befitting a King.

Consider this:
Joseph shows us that:

Quiet disciples can make bold moves

Faith sometimes requires stepping out of the shadows

God uses people in high places for holy purposes

Honor given to Jesus is never wasted

Courage often shows up when it matters most

Prayer:
Lord, help me to be faithful in the quiet places. Give me the courage to step forward when You call my name. Teach me to honor You with my influence, my resources, and my life.
May I give You my best, just as Joseph did. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;”

Devotion:
Being in leadership can be a challenging position. You learn every team member’s personality. You try to make sure everyone has what they need. You quickly discover that it is impossible to please everyone and still get the best out of everyone. Someone will be disappointed, someone will be let down, and someone will be upset. Then there are those who don’t care one way or another—and the ones who are glad things went their way.

That’s what we see happening in this lesson. Pilate is trying to appease a crowd calling for the death of Jesus. They were influenced by the voices of the priests, and now they stand on the opposite side of justice. They want what everyone else wants—except for Pilate. Pilate knows Jesus is innocent, yet he still sides with the people. “I’ll go along to get along.”

Once the decision is made, we find Jesus hanging on the cross, crying out to His Father, asking why He has been forsaken. Jesus knew exactly what was happening, but the human side of Him felt the deep pain of separation—a son feeling the absence of His Father. He had taken on the full weight of sin, separation, and darkness. This is what the voice of the crowd produced: pain, distance, and brokenness.

Jesus then willingly gives up the ghost. This wasn’t defeat, but it was surrender. Not surrender to death, but surrender for us. He laid His life down willingly. No one took it from Him.

And then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Through that tear, we now have freedom and direct access to God. That tear declared:

The distance is gone

The barrier is broken

Access is open

We can come close to God now

What sin separated, Jesus restored.

Consider this:
Everyone must answer Pilate’s question: “What will I do with Jesus?”
Will I ignore Him?
Will I reject Him?
Will I keep Him at a distance?
Or will I receive the One who tore the veil so I could come near?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the cross, for Your cry, and for the torn veil. Help me never take lightly the sacrifice You made for me. Teach me to choose You daily—with my heart, my decisions, and my life. Draw me closer into the access You paid for. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.”

Devotion:
Recently I had a friend come to me asking that I be in prayer with her. You see, she received some not so good news from the doctor and wanted to reach out to me because she knows I’m a praying woman. She had already been in my spirit because I noticed she just wasn’t her usual joyful self. Now I know why.

In our lesson today, Jesus decides to have his final meal with his disciples and tell them about what was ahead for Him and for them. He has what we call Holy Communion with them and explains to them about the body and the blood which represents Him after His return. He then sets off to pray.

Jesus took the three people He felt understood Him the most - Peter, James, and John. Jesus just needed a little moral support as He was approaching the moment He was created for. He was approaching the moment He even dreaded. He was approaching the moment He had been sharing with them for some time now. He was approaching the moment He would be revealed as God in the Flesh. For Him, the garden was a place of peace, a place of vulnerability and a place of surrender. He revealed His true divine identity in the Garden.

Praying just seems more powerful when you have someone praying along with you. "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst", Matthew 18:20. Even Jesus lived by His own words.

Consider this:
Jesus shows us that true obedience is not just celebrated at the table—it is lived out in the garden.
He feeds us so we can follow Him.
He strengthens us so we can surrender.
He invites us close so we can walk with Him into deeper places.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the table where You feed me and the garden where You shape me.
Teach me to receive Your strength and to surrender my will. Help me follow You from communion to commitment, from comfort to obedience. May my life reflect the love You poured out for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.”

Devotion:
It’s no secret that I’ve been divorced twice. I’ve had relationships that looked promising—relationships that seemed to hold a forever future—yet they ended in disappointment, hidden motives, divided loyalty, and even greed. The dream of doing life together forever was gone. When it was all said and done, everyone involved lost something and walked away wondering, did you ever love me? Yes, something beautiful eventually came after the heartbreak, but in the midst of that heartbreak, joy and true love felt so far away.

In our lesson today, we see Judas Iscariot—one of Jesus’ twelve disciples. Judas walked with Jesus. He heard His teachings, witnessed His miracles, and shared meals with Him. Yet somewhere along the journey, his heart drifted. Doubt and deceit slowly took the place of love and loyalty.

You see, you don’t fall out of love overnight. That fall begins long before it shows up in your actions. Judas didn’t suddenly decide to betray Jesus. He betrayed Him in small compromises long before the silver ever touched his hands.

And this is the part of the lesson that hurts the most:
He sold our Savior for the price of a slave. Not because Jesus wasn’t valuable, but because Judas’ heart had stopped valuing Him.

Consider this:
Before we judge Judas too quickly, we must pause and ask:

What do we trade Jesus for?

What steals our loyalty?

What competes for our devotion?

What “small compromises” do we excuse?

It may not be thirty pieces of silver, but it might be comfort, pride, approval, habits, or distractions.
A divided heart will always sell what a devoted heart would protect. Guard your loyalty. Guard your love. Guard your walk with Jesus.

Prayer:
Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that competes with my devotion to You.
Strengthen me where I am weak, correct me where I am drifting, and help me value You above every earthly desire. Keep my heart loyal, steady, and surrendered.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.”

Devotion:
My grandmother was a cosmetologist, which meant she spent a lot of time in the shop fixing hair. After about a month or so, she would tell me to take her clippers to the barber to have them sharpened. I would walk in and say, “Grandma sent me to get her clippers sharpened.” The barber never questioned why I was the one bringing them instead of her. He knew I was her representative—so if I said it, it was as though she said it. Point blank. No questions asked.

In our lesson today, Jesus’ authority is being challenged by leaders who were jealous of Him and the influence He had on the people. Prior to this confrontation, Jesus had been healing the sick. Wheelchairs and crutches were no longer needed. People who were once blind could now see. Those who were hopeless now had hope. And that didn’t sit well with the Jewish leaders.

They basically asked Him, “Who gave You permission to do these things, and in whose name are You doing them?”

Jesus, being the wise and strategic teacher He is, turned the question back on them. He essentially said, “Let me ask you something first. By whose authority do you stand here questioning Me?” Don’t you love how Jesus made them stop and think about their own motives?

When Jesus asked them about John’s baptism, they refused to answer honestly. They didn’t want to acknowledge that John was a prophet, because doing so would validate Jesus. But they also feared the people, who believed John was sent by God. So, they chose the safest answer: “We cannot tell.”

Jesus’ conclusion was simple: If you can’t tell Me whose authority you’re under, then I won’t tell you whose authority I’m under. End of discussion.

Consider this:
1. Jesus’ authority comes from heaven, not human approval.
He doesn’t need permission to teach, heal, correct, or save.

2. Spiritual pride blinds people to truth.
The leaders saw miracles, heard teaching, and witnessed prophecy fulfilled—yet still resisted Jesus.

3. Fear of people can silence honesty.
The leaders knew the truth about John but refused to say it.

4. Jesus reveals hearts through questions.
He doesn’t just give answers—He exposes motives.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You today for the knowledge we have of who You truly are. We thank You for the life of Jesus, who through Your authority, we can experience all You have for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It reminds me of a parent who comes home early from work and catches their children doing exactly what they were told not to do.

I experienced that many times growing up. My grandmother would say, “Now Lisa, don’t you have nobody in my house playing while I’m gone.” I would always answer, “Yes ma’am,” and as soon as she was out of sight, I’d call my friend over. We would cook breakfast and sit at the table like we bought the groceries and paid the bills.

But Grandma always knew I had people in her house playing—because there were fewer eggs and less bacon in the refrigerator than before she left. And her response to me was always the same: “Now Lisa, didn’t I tell you not to be playing in my house?”

This is exactly what Jesus was expressing to the merchants who thought it was acceptable to set up shop in the temple of God. The temple in Jerusalem was an open space, much like a large flea market. Merchants were selling animals for sacrifice, exchanging money at unfair rates, and profiting off worshippers—especially the poor. What was meant to be a place of prayer had become a marketplace, and worse, a place of exploitation.

Jesus immediately rebuked them and overturned the tables of those who were selling in His Father’s house. Like my grandmother, Jesus reminded them that the standard had already been set long ago: “My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves,” as written in Isaiah 56:7. Jesus was restoring God’s purpose for His house.

Consider This:

God cares deeply about the purity of worship.

Jesus confronts anything that blocks people from encountering God.

Jesus still cleans temples today.

Jesus reminds us that God’s house has two purposes: prayer and worship. And what it is not for—is playing.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for the reminder of how precious Your house is and its true purpose. Let us enter Your temple with a contrite heart and a broken spirit, ready and willing to pray and worship You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.”

Devotion:
I’ve had the privilege of walking the red carpet—standing before crowds of people who found us so fascinating that they wanted to take pictures with us. As exciting and sometimes overwhelming as those events were, I still enjoyed the attention that came with the world of music. They call your name aloud and ask if they can interview you. They ask all sorts of questions: How did you enjoy the show? Who was your favorite artist? How would you describe your music?

And once the interview is over and the flashing lights are no longer on you, the people whisper among themselves, saying, “Who was that? And those who know respond with, Oh, They are the artist of the year.”

In our lesson today, Jesus is riding into Jerusalem for the Passover. He’s greeted by a group of people who were anxious about His coming to town. They were so enthusiastic that some cut down branches from trees for Jesus to ride over. Others even took off their garments and laid them on the road so Jesus wouldn’t have to ride on dirt like a commoner. Some walked ahead of Him, introducing Him to those further up the road, shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

As Jesus approached the entry into Jerusalem, the people whispered among themselves, asking, “Who is this?”

Their response: “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

The spotlight was now on Jesus. Those who didn’t know Him now had a name, a story, and a reason to pay attention. They were probably thinking, “He must be somebody.”

Many wanted to know who this person was riding in on the “green carpet” that everyone was so fascinated with.

“Oh, that’s Jesus—the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee,” the people said.

Consider this:
When Jesus enters a life, a home, a situation, or a community:

Comfort zones shift

Hidden things rise to the surface

Hope begins to breathe again

People start asking, “Who is this?”

The question isn’t whether Jesus is moving—He always is.
The question is whether we recognize Him when He comes in on the green carpet.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, enter my life today in a fresh way. Stir what needs to be awakened. Disrupt what needs to be changed. Help me recognize You even when You come in unexpected ways. I lay down my plans, my expectations, and my pride. Be honored in my life as King. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Even in moments of suffering, feeling lonely, or loss, His love comforts me. We are reminded of how the people of Israel had endured hardship, and God spoke to them in the wilderness which was a place of emptiness and struggle for them. Just as His grace and love never left them, He has promised in His Word to never leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)

Our God’s love is truly everlasting. We should be thankful that it’s because of His lovingkindness that we are drawn to Him; it does not depend on our performance or circumstances. Because of His love, we can trust Him when we feel distant or overwhelmed, because He is near, calling us back into His arms with mercy and faithfulness.

This Scripture encourages us to trust in His constant love. Yes, life will bring lonely moments, trials, and uncertainty, but God’s love does not waver. He goes before us, surrounds us, and remains faithful, guiding us to rest in Him. Remember that you are never out of the reach of God’s faithful love!

Prayer:
Thank You for Your everlasting love. Even when I feel lost, weary, or far from You, Your faithfulness is always near. Thank You that Your grace finds me in the wilderness and draws me closer to You. Help me to trust in Your love completely. Give me a heart to reflect Your enduring love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In this verse the psalmist describes the fairness and grace that flows from Jesus. Grace is not just His gift; it is who our Savior is.
Grace flows from His lips with words of truth, mercy, and encouragement. When we meditate on this verse, we will understand that God’s blessing is tied to His perfect, fair, and gracious character. As believers, we are fortunate because we can experience the overflowing love and grace of Christ. His beauty and grace are near to us; they meet us every day in Scripture, in prayer, and as we go about living our lives in relationship with Him.

Remember, as we walk in the ways of Christ, we will understand that His grace is not only given to us, but it flows through us to others when we abide in Him.

Prayer:
Father, we thank You for the love and grace that flow from You. Thank You that Your Word brings life, encouragement, and blessings. Help us to reflect Your grace in everything we say and do. And may our lives honor You and be a testimony of Your endless blessings to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
