“Uphold Me, Lord”
Scripture: Isaiah 41:10

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Devotion:
Fear is a daily companion for many who live in the shadow of domestic violence. Fear of another outburst. But into this fear, God speaks a word of powerful reassurance: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee.” This is not just a poetic promise—it is a lifeline. God doesn’t dismiss the danger or pretend it doesn’t exist. Instead, He steps into it with us, declaring:

•  “I am with you” – You are not alone in this.
•  “I am your God” – You belong to Someone who values you, not someone who harms you.
•  “I will strengthen you” – When you feel too weak to stand, I will carry you.
•  “I will help you” – I will send what you need, in the right time.
•  “I will uphold you” – I will not let you fall.

God is not distant. He is near to the brokenhearted and He hates the injustice, control, and cruelty inflicted upon you. He is a God of justice, but also a God of mercy, and He is fighting for you. Let today’s Scripture be your daily reminder: Even when you feel most afraid, God is holding you.

Prayer:
Lord, draw near to the one who feels trapped and powerless. Be their strength when they are weary. Be their voice when they cannot speak. Be their defender when no one else will stand for them. Thank You that You are with us, that You will help us, and that You will uphold us with Your righteous hand. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
