“Know Your Gift"
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:1, NIV
 
“Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.”

Devotion:
Today’s Scripture is an introduction to the topic of spiritual gifts. Paul is urging believers to understand and appreciate the different ways the Holy Spirit equips individuals to serve the church. He is letting them know that gifts have their own function and purpose, but none is greater or better than the other. They all work together to glorify God and build His kingdom. The beauty of God is that He entrusted us all with talents and gifts, and as my sister once told me a long time ago, God expects a return on HIs investment in us.

We don’t want to dig a hole in the ground out of laziness, fear, and comparison and hide our talents and gifts. We want our talent to yield an increase so that God can get all the glory from it. I have heard it said that the graveyard is the richest place on earth because it is full of potential. We don’t want to leave this earth full of potential; we want to live each day walking out the purpose God has placed in our lives by knowing, using, and operating in our God-given gifts and abilities.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gifts You have given us. Help us use them for Your glory. Release us from fear, and help us fully use our gifts for the building of Your kingdom. Amen.
