“Rooted in Love”
Scripture: Ephesians 3:16-17, NIV
 
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love.”

Devotion:
In today’s Scripture, Paul is praying for God’s power to strengthen the people of God so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith and establish them in love. The key thing that stood out to me in the Word today is “strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being.” God wants us to be spiritually strong from the inside out so we are not easily manipulated by the lies and deceptive tactics of the enemy.

Not only that, but He also wants to “dwell” in our hearts. That means God wants to take residence in our hearts; He desires a personal relationship with us so our desires line up with His will for our lives. Finally, God wants us to be rooted and established in His love, which means I am not easily moved and shaken by the tactics of the enemy. However, I am firmly grounded in the purpose and plans God has for my life. The closer we get to God, the stronger we become. The more we stay in His presence, the less we focus on the cares of this world. We have to be rooted and grounded in God!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your love for us. We don’t take it lightly, but we desire to be rooted and grounded in it. Help us be obedient and live on and in Your purpose. Amen.
