“Safety in God’s Peace”
Scripture: Psalm 4:8, AMP
 
“In peace [and with a tranquil heart] I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety and confident trust.”

Devotion:
Sometimes life weighs us down – we face stress, fear, doubt and so many other emotions. However, David, who too faced many difficulties, is letting us know that true peace and safety are found in God alone. Why was David so calm in the storm – because he knew the promise of God to bring peace in the midst of a storm. I’m reminded of the song, “While Riding Through the Storm” by Yolanda Adams, which says “while riding through the storm/Jesus holds me in his arms/I am not afraid/Of the stormy winds and waves”

When the storms of life attempt to beat you down, remember Psalm 4:8, where David reminds us to lie down in peace because God’s peace will protect us. As we bring this month of reflection to a close, remember there is safety in God’s peace – not in the locks on the door or the alarm on the wall – but God and God alone. Rest easy in His Peace!

Prayer:
Lord, Thank You for being my peace. Help me to remember that my safety rests in You and You alone. Let me be a visible reminder to those around me of Your peace in the midst of all circumstances and help me to continue to rest in Your safety. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
